NORTHWEST INDIANA - On the heels from a ration of about one to three inches of snow that hit the Region Monday evening, another round of snow is headed for Northwest Indiana. Todd Kluber, Meteorologist with Chicago National Weather Service Office in Romeoville says we'll start to see the new snow system on Thursday.
"As we head on through the day on Thursday you'll see just a few flurries in the area and then going into Thursday evening we'll see widespread snow spread across the Region, possibly falling heavy at times in the evening hours then falling heavy at times through the night into much of the day on Friday," Kluber says.
Kluber says it appears the heaviest snow will hit Northwest Indiana Thursday during the overnight hours into Friday, lasting into the middle or late part of the afternoon with the heaviest concentration to the north, becoming less intense going south.
"It does look like the closer to Lake Michigan we'll have the highest amounts across Lake and Porter Counties at this point for those locations," Kluber says. "Looking at the potential for six to nine inches of snow. And then the total for the whole storm will drop off quickly to the south by the time we reach the Newton, Jasper or southern parts of those counties."
Kluber says the Region will be looking at two to four inches from that system. The National Weather Service is also monitoring the potential for accumulating snow on Saturday.
