Today: Ivy Tech Community College just unveiled its new five-year strategic plan, and we asked statewide President Sue Ellspermann to review it and talk about the impact it will have on northwest Indiana. The plan aligns with Indiana's goal to give 60-percent of the Indiana workforce a high-value post-secondary degree or credential by 2025.
IU Northwest is offering a discussion on LGBTQI rights at Indiana University and Indiana on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. in the Gary campus' Savannah Center. The University invited the veterans' program director at IU South Bend, Rhiannon Carlson, to lead the discussion. Rhiannon is a transgender woman who served in the U.S. Army during the 2003 conflict in Iraq. She joins us to talk about herself and what she'll talk about while at IU Northwest.
And we'll revisit our recent conversation with northwest Indiana community activist Ruth Needleman, who will talk about the upcoming "Black Labor Week" activities and about another vigil coming up outside the Gary-Chicago International Airport in protest of ICE and immigration rights for northwest Indiana residents.
