IU Northwest Offers "A Transgender Veteran's Perspective" At Campus Discussion

IU Northwest

Indiana University Northwest is offering a discussion on LGBTQI rights at Indiana University and Indiana on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. in the Gary campus' Savannah Center.  The University invited the veterans' program director at Indiana University South Bend, Rhiannon Carlson, to lead the discussion.

Rhiannon is a transgender woman who served in the U.S. Army during the 2003 conflict in Iraq.  She joins us to talk about herself and what she'll talk about while at IU Northwest.  She shared her experiences with legislators in 2016 in a presentation titled "A Trans Veteran's Perspective."  Here is our conversation, aired on Monday.

Chris Nolte produces and hosts “Regionally Speaking” aired weekdays from noon to 1:00 p.m. He's also the temporary local "Morning Edition" host.
