Regionally Speaking, Tuesday, January 23, 2018

Temple University School of Law

Today:  we talk with Valparaiso University School of Law professor Jeremy Telman about this Thursday's 2018 Martin Luther King Jr. Lecture  on campus.  This year, the guest speaker is professor Henry Richardson III, from the Beasley School of Law at Temple University. He is a renowned expert on international law, and his insight into how it fits into today's world view will be ompared with Dr. King's own views.

We also bring you another conversation from the Welcome Project at Valparaiso University.  The Project collects first-person stories and pairs them with intentional conversation to help forge stronger ties within and across our communities. You can hear more of them on the Project's website.

Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch joins us to talk about the battle against the Hoosier State's opioid addiction crisis, the latest in economic development and what the Indiana General Assembly is doing this session.  And we'll bring back our conversations with NIPSCO spokesperson Denise Rodriguez on dealing with winter heating bills, and with Lake County Sheriff Oscar Martinez Jr.

Chris Nolte produces and hosts “Regionally Speaking” aired weekdays from noon to 1:00 p.m. He's also the temporary local "Morning Edition" host.
