Regionally Speaking, Tuesday, January 16, 2018

Congressman Peter Visclosky's office

Today:   We revisit our conversation about the South Shore Leadership Center's upcoming "Vision Project" delving into northwest Indiana issues and ways to deal with them.  The "Project's" task this time is on tourism.  Lakeshore Public Radio's Sharon Jackson reports on gasoline prices and why they're so high this year compared to 2017.

We bring you another conversation from the "Welcome Project"  at Valparaiso University. The "Project" collect first-person stories and pairs them with intentional conversations to help forge stronger ties within and across our communities.  "Great Lakes Today" explores pollution on the Great Lakes this week and this episode deal with industrial pollution in places like East Chicago.

And we bring you highlights of one of Congressman Peter Visclosky's recent town hall meetings in the First Congressinoal District. This forum was held Friday at Purdue University Northwest's "Room With A View" in Hammond.  Visclosky's forum series stretched across Lake and Porter Counties.

Chris Nolte produces and hosts “Regionally Speaking” aired weekdays from noon to 1:00 p.m. He's also the temporary local "Morning Edition" host.
