Today: On this Reporters' Roundtable Thursday, we turn to reporter Giles Bruce and LaPorte County correspondent Stan Maddux of the "Times of Northwest Indiana" and "Post-Tribune" reporters Carole Carlson and Greg Tejeda, to talk about the stories they wrote for their newspapers and Web sites.
Giles covers medical and healthcare issues for the "Times" and one of his stories was about a new Franciscan Alliance program to help mothers who are addicted to opioids, Stan's LaPorte County stories include some good economic development news in Michigan City for a long-time business and an upcoming political party caucus to choose a new Michigan City Councilman at-large.
Carole's stories focus on new developments in the Gary Community School Corp., including extended hours for students at two elementary schools and the discussion about which high schools may be selected for closing. She also reports on a group of South Korean teachers who are attending a special program at Purdue University Northwest. And Greg's stories focus on Gary Common Council discussions on towing service in the city, a decision not to make local changes to the statewide smoking ban, and talks about the future of the Genesis Convention Center.
