Gary Sends Off Bid to Amazon

GARY - The city of Gary's proposal to Amazon to locate its second U.S. headquarters in its city is en-route to the company.  Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson on Wednesday unveiled the box containing the city's proposal to Amazon.  Freeman-Wilson formally thanked the Gary Common Council, the Amazon working group and a gave a special thank you to Economic Development Specialist Mike Citro  for getting it done. 

Common Council President Ron Brewer said the response to Amazon gives Gary a chance to display its assets to a fortune 500 Company.  He also says Amazon coming to Gary would mean promising jobs within the region, a bright future for many and building up a rising city for even more greatness. 

The city first announced its intention to respond to the Amazon request for proposals in a New York Times newspaper advertisement in the Business section on September 18th.
 

Sharon Jackson is the local host of "All Things Considered" and a reporter for Lakeshore Public Radio. She has been with 89.1 FM since its launch in 2009. Sharon is also a radio DJ in Chicago, and has been since 2004. In her previous job at Metro Networks/Westwood One, she was heard on am 890 WLS, WGN radio 720 am and am 560 WIND. She has also delivered news and traffic reports on radio stations all over Chicago and the suburbs including 95.9 The River, 98.3 WCCQ and Star 96.7.
