Purdue University Northwest - Hammond

Today:  We revisit our conversation with two Gary charter school students who are in the cast of an anti-opioid addiction PSA being shown this month before films at the AMC Theatres in Merrillville.  The theme of their message -- don't share prescription medications with anyone.

Purdue University Northwest Chancellor's chief of staff Richard Rupp joins us from the Hammond campus to talk about the 2017 "Friday University,"  a series of courses, offered over two separate Fridays, that enlightens, educates and entertains.  This is the 8th annual "Friday University" and Professor Rupp tells us about some of the courses offered this year.  Online registration's been extended until the middle of next week.

NIPSCO is asking Indiana utility regulators for an increase in natural gas services rates -- the first such increase for the northern Indiana utility in more than 20 years.  Lakeshore Public Radio's Sharon Jackson talks with NIPSCO spokesman Nick Meyer and Anthony Swinger of the Indiana Office of Utility Consumer Counsellor about the rate increase request, and Swinger explains the process that the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission uses to review and decide on the request.

Chris Nolte produces and hosts “Regionally Speaking” aired weekdays from noon to 1:00 p.m. He's also the temporary local "Morning Edition" host.
