Today:  a conversation with the executive director of the city of Gary's Human Relations Commission, Haneiifah Khaliq, about this evening's Unity Walk and Rally in downtown Gary.  The northwest Indiana community's invited to participate in an event that is intended to show unity with a Virginia community that has become a visible part of the fight against racism and for tolerance. 

Northwest Indiana financial advisor Greg Hammer returns with some tips on using Social Security benefits to their best use when planning one's retirement years. 

Indiana's "drug czar" Jim McClelland is coming to the Region speak to the Lake County Substance Abuse Council on September 7th, and we talk with him ahead of his visit to get the latest effort in the war against opioids and other addictive and illicit substances.  And Side Effects Public Media's Jake Harper has a report on how an Indianapolis hospital is helping addicts get the treatment they need to "kick the habit" -- through their visits to the Emergency Room.

The latest "Quantum Leap Sound Bites" talks about famous Hoosier author Gene Stratton Porter's efforts to save Indiana's swampland from extinction.
