On this Reporters Roundtable Thursday -- a look at some of the major stories of the week in northwest Indiana, from the reporters who researched, wrote and posted them online and in print. Our guests this week are Dan Carden and Ed Bierschenk with the Times of Northwest Indiana, Carole Carlson of the Post-Tribune and Lakeshore Public Radio's Steven Lattimore.
The subjects range from Indiana officials' reaction to a request from a new federal commission (headed by former Governor, now Vice President Mike Pence) looking for data in a probe into potential voter fraud -- to plans by officials in Gary, Merrillville and Munster to see additional tax dollars underneath the property tax caps -- to a public hearing on Thursday afternoon in Gary by the Gary Public Transportation Corp. that could spell the end of bus service in sections of south Hammond, Highland and Munster.
And we close the week with Dave Benjamin of the Great Lakes Surf Rescue Project, with his tips on preventing death by drowning in Lake Michigan this summer.
