NWI Small Business Center

Today:  a conversation with Lorri Feldt of the Indiana Small Business Development Center in northwest Indiana and Indiana University Northwest economist Micah Pollak about the optimism of small businesses in the early months of the new administration in Washington, and if northwest Indiana small businesses are expressing any optimistic views.

We hear from Lakeshore Public Radio's Steven Lattimore on a new STEM camp getting started this summer in the Region.  And Indiana Public Broadcasting's Annie Ropeik reports on the impact that changing one-way Main Streets in Hoosier communities back into two-way thoroughfares can have on the small businesses located along those streets.

Ed Feigenbaum, the editor and publisher of "Indiana Gaming Insight" newsletter joins us to talk about the new fantasy sports licenses issued by the state's Gaming Commission and other news that affects northwest Indiana's casinos.

We talked to Indiana State Teachers Association president Teresa Meredith about this year's National Education Association annual meeting, and the Indiana Youth Institute is issuing a summertime Issues Brief about the benefits and drawbacks of youth employment.

Chris Nolte produces and hosts “Regionally Speaking” aired weekdays from noon to 1:00 p.m. He's also the temporary local "Morning Edition" host.
