Wear Orange Campaign Stands-Up Against Gun Violence

In 2013, a small group of teens at a south-side Chicago high school asked their classmates to honor the life of their murdered friend Hadiya Pendleton by wearing orange – the color hunters wear in the woods to protect themselves. National Gun Violence Awareness Day was celebrated in Gary, IN by taking a picture of people wearing orange at City Hall. Lakeshore Public Radio’s Steven Lattimore was there for the event and tells us what the campaign means here in Gary.

Columbia College Alumni Steven Lattimore has been a broadcast journalist since 1988, starting his career in Greenville, Mississippi as a television reporter.
