Today: It's Reporters' Roundtable Thursday, where we bring in the reporters who worked on some of the major news stories of northwest Indiana this week. On the program today were Greg Tejeda, who covers the city of Gary for the Post-Tribune -- Sarah Reese of the Times of Northwest Indiana -- Carrie Napoleon, Lake County government reporter for the Post-Tribune -- and Joseph Pete with the Times of Northwest Indiana.
They talk about some of the crime and courts news stories of the week, the Gary Common Council's debate and approval of a "Welcoming City" ordinance and the public relations nightmare that Lake County Clerk Michael A. Brown is facing these days because of the swirl of controversy around County Recorder Michael B. Brown. Carrie also brings us the latest from the recent Board of Commissioners meeting as they establish new towing service contracts for the Sheriff's Department.
Joseph Pete brings us up-to-date on the Central Grocers - Strack & VanTil Supermarkets and Jewel-Osco story and a report of a drop in Great Lakes steel production for the week.
