INDIANA - Northwest Indiana is being featured as one stop in the Brand USA MegaFam tour. Katie Holderby, Executive Vice President of the South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority says the trip is a familiarization tour of the Midwest.
"So the tour is through Brand USA and its tour operators and travel agents from the UK and Ireland and they are starting in Pennsylvania then coming into Indiana doing several major attractions in Indianapolis and then traveling north, on route to Chicago they're stopping at Albanese Candy to tour that facility" Holderby says.
The tour group is on a busy schedule with stops at landmark destinations including Churchill Downs in Kentucky, the Cincinnati Zoo and Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where they were given the opportunity to meet racecar drivers and enjoy the IndyCar Experience. Because of the busy itinerary, the 15 international travelers will only be in the Region for a short time.
Holderby says, "They are not going to any other destinations (in Northwest Indiana) they are just stopping at Albanese. Their itinerary is pretty jam packed with attractions in major cities. They are starting in Pittsburgh, traveling to Louisville, Indianapolis, Chicago and making intermittent stops throughout their trip so Albanese is their one stop in Northwest Indiana."
After the stop at Albanese, the group goes on to Chicago. The tour is an initiative of Brand USA and the Indiana Department of Tourism.
