engagingnwibusinesswomen.org

Today:  We learn more about "InnovateHERS," a nationwide cash-prize competition by the U.S. Small Business Administration that encourages businesswomen to offer their ideas for innovative products and services that fill a need in the marketplace and have commercial potential.  Valparaiso attorney Angela Cossen is a member of the regional "InnovateHERS" committee that is asking for nominations to consider this summer here n northwest Indiana.

The winner of the regional competition will then go on to the semifinal round.

Indiana Public Broadcasting's Eric Weddle has the second part of his two-part series on the fate of Indiana's first public online charter school.  Hoosier Academies Virtual School earned an "F" grade from the Indiana Department of Education each year for the past six years in a row.  The state's Board of Education met in Evansville to consider closing the school.

A distinguished Hoosier climatologist talks about the prospects of drought this summer that can affect corn and soybean crops.  And we bring you the first of a two-part Times of Northwest Indiana "Byline" report looking into why Lake County's population is smaller than it was 10 years ago.

Chris Nolte produces and hosts “Regionally Speaking” aired weekdays from noon to 1:00 p.m. He's also the temporary local "Morning Edition" host.
