"Bring It to the Table" Discussion Comes To Valparaiso University

Twitter

Valparaiso University will host “Bring it to the Table,” a documentary film screening and discussion with Emmy-nominated director Julie Winokur for its second annual Dialogue and Discernment event Thursday evening at the Helge Center.

Winokur was on "Regionally Speaking" on Wednesday to talk about the documentary, which will be shown on campus at 7:00 p.m. before her "table talk."   She launched her production company Talking Eyes Media in 2002 as a way to focus on creating visual media that catalyzes positive social change.

Julie's comments after the screening will focus on what she sees as the divide over womens' reproductive rights.  She asks people to sit down and speak candidly about their political beliefs and commitments in a non-confrontational setting.

The Dialogue and Discernment series goal is to expose the community to different strategies of civil dialogue around divisive issues.  The event is free and open to the public.

Chris Nolte produces and hosts “Regionally Speaking” aired weekdays from noon to 1:00 p.m. He's also the temporary local "Morning Edition" host.
