Purdue Northwest Prof Studies How Preschoolers Learn Counting Skills

A Purdue University Northwest faculty member is conducting research into the best way that preschoolers learn how to count.

Lori Peterson came on "Regionally Speaking" on Wednesday to talk about her project, which she says so far shows that youngsters may more quickly learn counting skills by reading a book, rather than physically handling objects.  She talks bout how she began her research with ten 3-year-olds enrolled at Purdue Northwest's Riley Child Center on the Hammond campus.

Chris Nolte produces and hosts “Regionally Speaking” aired weekdays from noon to 1:00 p.m. He's also the temporary local "Morning Edition" host.
