Regionally Speaking, Wednesday, March 1, 2017

Today:  Michigan City Mayor Ron Meer joins us to talk about his "thank you" message to the special education program employees at the Michigan City Area Schools on Wednesday, to kick off Indiana Disability Awareness Month.  Similar events are scheduled for later this month in Gary.

The Governor's Council for People with Disabilities says just over 19-percent of Hoosiers have some sort of disability, but they want to be recognized and accepted as people who want to be included in their communities, just like everyone else.

Lakeshore Public Radio's Steven Lattimore reports on the Urban League of Northwest Indiana's annual tax preparation service for low- and moderate-income residents,

And Indiana Public Broadcasting's Sarah Fentum has a report on a bill now moving through this current Indiana General Assembly session that, if passed and enacted into law, would expand the number of vaccinations that Hoosier pharmacists can give to patients.  She explores the question: are patients sacrificing quality for convenience?
