Regionally Speaking, Monday, February 6, 2017

YouTube

Today:   A conversation with Tami Silverman, the President and CEO of the Indiana Youth Institute, on the  "op - ed" pieces that the IYI is encouraging Indiana media to run, to ask Hoosier legislators to support more pre-kindergarten programs.  It's one of the topics that is on the 2017 General Assembly agenda.

A Valparaiso University associate law professor, Faisal Kutty, was interviewed for last weekend's "The Sunday Edition" on the Canadian Broadcasting Corp.  Kutty was in a Lakeshore Public Radio studio on Friday for the conversation with host Michael Enright.  You can hear it all right here.

And Indiana Public Broadcasting's Statehouse correspondent Brandon Smith reports on the concerns among some lawmakers about continued state funding for the Hoosier State Line passenger rail service, now that Iowa Pacific is stepping aside at the end of February and Amtrak is resuming the full operation of the service.  The Hoosier State runs between Chicago and Indianapolis, with stops in Dyer and Rensselaer.

Chris Nolte produces and hosts “Regionally Speaking” aired weekdays from noon to 1:00 p.m. He's also the temporary local "Morning Edition" host.
