Citizen Support Sought For Downtown Michigan City Plaza

EDC Michigan City website

Michigan City officials are joining citizens in supporting a proposal that, if approved, would transform a run-down section of Franklin Street in the downtown district into a public plaza.  It's a vision of  "a community space for concerts, shows, exhibitions, vendors, street musicians and other activities."

A petition on Change.org is asking for citizen support of the project before the city's Redevelopment Commission.

Clarence Hulse, the Executive Director of the Economic Development Corp. of Michigan City, was on "Regionally Speaking" on Monday to talk about the  public plaza project -- how it will benefit the community -- and of the growing public support for it.  Here's the conversation.

Chris Nolte produces and hosts “Regionally Speaking” aired weekdays from noon to 1:00 p.m. He's also the temporary local "Morning Edition" host.
