Regionally Speaking, Tuesday, January 24, 2017

railcatsbaseball.com

Today:  We bring you the second of three finalists for the Knight Cities Challenge from the city of Gary: the Ball Park Plaza project.  It was submitted by the late Kenneth Parr and now taken over by the city of Gary. We talked to both Brenda Scott-Henry, the city's Director of Environmental Affairs, and Renetta Dubose, the step-daughter of Kenneth Parr, about a project that would take a city-owned lot across from the U.S. Steel Yard baseball stadium and transform it into an outdoor entertainment venue and multi-purpose site.   Renetta talks about her step-father's vision for the site as a native of Gary.

Indiana political analyst Andy Downs joins us about a recent local political campaign committee report that is raising eyebrows -- one which Downs says doesn't meet the "smell test."

And the President and CEO of the Greater Northwest Indiana Association of Realtors, Peter Novak, talks about the region single-family home sales reports for December and the year of 2016. Both look good, and Novak also looks at how new home construction figures into the report as well.

Chris Nolte produces and hosts “Regionally Speaking” aired weekdays from noon to 1:00 p.m. He's also the temporary local "Morning Edition" host.
