Are you an upper class college student and looking to advance your broadcasting career and clean-up and polish your on-air sound? Lakeshore Public Radio is looking for a daily Midday news intern beginning in the Fall of 2021.
You will learn to record and playback in the digital recording medium; learn basic audio and video editing skills; be taught broadcast style writing; learn to write and read a newscast to time; learn how to update the news page on Lakeshore Public Radio’s website.
Responsibilities:
- Write, edit, read live midday newscasts daily
- Update midday news stories on website
- Cover breaking news as it happens in Northwest Indiana
- Record and edit interviews for air
- Possible live on-air pledging
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled college junior or senior, earning an undergraduate degree, or a graduate student earning a graduate degree in communications, broadcasting/journalism or communications with an emphasis in journalism/broadcasting
- Strong writing skills and journalistic training
- Strong on-air presence
- Basic computer skills (typing, use of internet)
- Knowledge of Northwest Indiana (news, issues, politics, geography, etc.)
- Working knowledge of audio editing software is a plus (Adobe Audition)
- Working knowledge of news writing and editing software is a plus (News Boss)
- Working knowledge of running a board is a plus

- The position is unpaid, for credit only
- You will be working on your own, trustworthiness is crucial
- Only 1 (one) position available
