Musical Guest: JAMES HOLVAY -- Songwriter/Performer
Singer, songwriter and performer JAMES "Jimmy Soul" HOLVAY penned 4 Top 10 hits for fellow Chicago music legends, THE BUCKINGHAMS back in 1967 and 1968 -- "Don't You Care," "Hey Baby (They're Playing Our Song)," Kind of a Drag," and "Susan," along with others.
Along with writing radio classics like "I Dig Everything About You" and "Give It To Me" for his own '60s Midwest rock group, THE MOB, Holvay wrote and co-wrote songs for the likes of '60s pop stars Brian Hyland, Dee Clark, Ral Donner and others he met while touring behind top artists of the day on the "Dick Clark Caravan of Stars" tours
Although a pop hit success, Holvay is a soul man at his roots. For his first newly written, original recordings in many years, Holvay returned to the trademark Chicago soul sound he always loved by Tyrone Davis, Jerry Butler, Curtis Mayfield, and others.
Those new songs are found on Holvay's just released (April 2021) EP -- "SWEET SOUL SONG" -- via his own indie label, Mob Records. More: www.jamesholvay.com.
