MARBIN SERVES UP A JAZZY SONIC COCKTAIL

This edition of "MIDWEST BEAT with Tom Lounges" was originally aired on 89.1FM - Lakeshore Public Radio on March ??, 2019.

MUSICAL GUEST:  DANI RABIN of   MARBIN

Marbin began their career in 2006 as an all instrumental quartet. Marbin have stayed true to their original vision of letting only their instruments be their "voice."

The group's name Marbin is a last name mash up of its founding members Danny Markovitch (Mar) and Dani Rabin (Bin), who met up while living in Israel and two years later relocated to the toddlin' town of Chicago, where they initially formed Marbin with the former rhythm section of the Pat Methany Group.

Their newest internet only release, "Alabama Sock Party (Bootleg)," is a six-song live set recorded in Florida in February of 2019 during their first ever show featuring their new drummer, Everette Benton, Jr.

"Alabama Sock Party (Bootleg)" is available for free download at: www.marbinmusic.com.  That website is also where their previous studio efforts are also found for purchase -- "Marbin" (2009), "Breaking the Cycle" (2011), "Last Chapter of Dreaming" (2013), "The Third Set" (2014), "Aggressive Hippies" (2015), and "Goatman and the House of the Dead" (2016).

Through word of mouth, non-stop marketing, and virtually non-stop touring across the U.S. and periodically at international jazz fests, Marbin has built a worldwide fan base for the jazz cocktail they bring to the party; selling thousands of albums ad packing venues with well planned DIY effort.

Tom Lounges has been a radio personality and music journalist since 1979. For the last 43 years, Tom has been reporting on entertainment as a weekly music columnist and feature writer for The Times newspaper.
