Disco Queen Linda Clifford Is Still Steppin' Out Thanks to Newly Re-Issued Catalog LPs

by Mike Ruiz

This edition of "MIDWEST BEAT with Tom Lounges was originally broadcast on November 13, 2018 on 89.1FM - Lakeshore Public Radio

MUSICAL GUEST: LINDA CLIFFORD -- Disco's Classsic Queen Returns

The 1970s Disco Music Queen -- LINDA CLIFFORD -- has never stopped performing and continues to keep the music playing with a calendar of shows as four of her biggest selling albums from between 1977-1980 got re-issued this past summer and are already getting her a younger fan base as a new generation discovers the beat heavy grooves of this lady's disco and funky R&B hits from four decades past.

"Midwest BEAT" show host Tom Lounges -- whose early career included spinning disco/dance/R&B tunes in clubs -- often included Clifford's hits in his nightly sets.   On this program, Lounges spoke to the Disco Queen about those early days of her career, working with producer/artists Isaac Hayes and Curtis Mayfield, about Cliffords' current live shows (one is coming up at The Arcada Theater in St. Charles, IL), and the recent re-release of her first four hit albums from the glory days.  Will more of her vintage titles be released as time goes on?  Listen and find out.

The still beautiful Linda Clifford continues to perform and her music is being embraced by a new generation enough to spawn the re-issuing of her early album catalog, which also includes bonus tracks of some dance club 12" remixes. Great stuff!
