Celebrating the Legacy of Chicago Blues Icon WILLIE DIXON with his Grandson ALEX DIXON

This edition of "MIDWEST BEAT with Tom Lounges" originally aired on Tuesday, July 10, 2018

SPECIAL GUEST: ALEX DIXON  (Musician and Grandson of Willie Dixon

Tonight's "Midwest BEAT with Tom Lounges" program will be what we call a "Legacy Show," which means we are spotlighting one of the true giants in the music business.

Because July 1st slipped by us and we did not get a chance to celebrate the music and life of Chicago Blues Icon WILLIE DIXON, this evening will rectify things by celebrating Willie's birthday belatedly with his grandson, ALEX DIXON, himself a music-making bluesman.

The late great Willie Dixon wrote numerous songs that later became radio hits for such mainstream rock artists as The Rolling Stones, Foghat, Savoy Brown, Led Zeppelin, Cream, The Doors, Ricky Nelson, George Throrogood, Jeff Beck, and many others.   But tonight's show will feature those songs performed in their original blues format, by some of Dixon's peers, friends and Chess Records label mates like Little Walter, Howlin' Wolf, and Muddy Waters

We'll even hear Dixon himself performing and I'll even slip in a great treatment a Dixon classic by the legend's own grandson, Alex

Willie Dixon's 103rd Birthday may have slipped by quietly a few days ago, but it's safe to say that tonight we'll celebrate it by pitching a wang, dang doodle!
