GUESTS: BILL SYNIAR & DAVE KELLY of "CLASSICAL BLAST"
Hundreds of Christmas albums get released each year, but FEW manage to stand out like "DARK SIDE OF THE YULE" -- the new, future holiday classic from adventurous Chicago group CLASSICAL BLAST.
The group has produced one of the most unique Christmas albums ever. It's best described as "Christmas meets Classic Rock" -- a wholly inventive and unique melding of Christmas Carols and rock music in ways never before heard nor imagined. For instance -- "Silent Night" gets mashed with Paul Simon's "Sounds Of Silence," and "Carol of the Bells" gets mashed with Metallica's "Enter Sandman."
Band members BILL SYNIAR and DAVE KELLY guest on this program to talk about the group's history, their unique musical blending of classical, classic rock, Christmas Carols, blues, and other genres, and how playing music for kids at local hospitals resulted in some of their best original songs.
Among cuts heard on this program, are ones featuring guest performances by such Chicago music celebs as rocker Cathy Richardson, bluesman, Wayne Baker Brooks, and industrial rocker Chris Connelly.
See CLASSICAL BLAST during a short Midwest run of "DARK SIDE OF
THE YULE" concerts, including shows DECEMBER 10th at CHICAGO STREET THEATRE in Valparaiso, IN, and DECEMBER 17th at THE ARCADA THEATRE in St. Charles, IL.
