mb_11-24-17_cornerstone___thanksgiving_segment_2_complete.mp3
The second half of this Thanksgiving Weekend program features "Thank You"-themed songs by a variety of artists, following a traditional airing of Arlo Gurthrie's Turkey Day classic, "Alice's Restaurant Massacree," and a "This Day In Music History" segment for November 24th.

This edition of "MIDWEST BEAT with Tom Lounges" originally aired on FRIDAY,  NOVEMBER 24, 2017

Topic: "Cornerstones of Chicago Rock "

Musical Guests:

TOM DOODY (of THE CRYAN' SHAMES)

JIM PETERIK (of THE IDES OF MARCH)

Plus ... A special "THANK YOU"-themed music set for Thanksgiving weekend

The first half of the program features two legendary band leaders who are part of the touring "CORNERSTONES OF ROCK" musical revue.   The live shows are a spin-off of the 2016 WTTW-PBS TV live broadcast special of the same name.   The concerts showcase several of the original hit-making bands of the 1960s' Chicago Music Scene.

This program features interviews with TOM DOODY of THE CRYAN' SHAMES and JIM PETERIK of THE IDES OF MARCH by host Tom Lounges, as they reminisce about the glory days of chart hits with their respective bands and the fun they now have re-living those days via the "Cornerstones Of Rock" concerts.  This program was promoting the November 25 "Cornerstones" date at THE ARCADA THEATRE in St. Charles, Illinois.

The second half of this radio program kicked off with a Thanksgiving Weekend traditional radio classic -- "Alice's Restaurant Massacree" by Arlo Guthrie -- followed by a strings of "Thank You" themed songs by a variety of artists, including Paul Rodgers, Andrew Gold, Sly & The Family Stone, Mitch Ryder and Vasti Jackson, among others.

Tom Lounges has been a radio personality and music journalist since 1979. For the last 43 years, Tom has been reporting on entertainment as a weekly music columnist and feature writer for The Times newspaper.
