Native American Music, Wolves & A Mission of Warmth Come to "Midwest BEAT"

This edition of  “MIDWEST BEAT with Tom Lounges” originally aired on  TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 7, 2017

TOPIC: NATIVE AMERICAN MUSIC CULTURE, WOLVES & MORE!

Musical Guests:

PAUL LaROCHE of BRULÉ (Award-Winning Native American Musical Group)

CHARLIE SMITH (NWI Former Actress/Model & Miss Indiana)

KATHY BAUDENDISTEL (Wolf Creek Habitat of Brookville, IN)

Northwest Indiana's former actress and Miss Indiana CHARLIE SMITH has long been active in supporting Native American culture.  Smith recently donated professional recording studio gear that once belonged to her late husband Mike Smith of the Dave Clark Five, to help nurture the musical education efforts of Native Americans.  Smith is working closely on that studio project with her friend PAUL LaROUCH of the award-winning contemporary Native American music group BRULÉ  of South Dakota, who have sold over one million CDs worldwide and won a number of awards.

BRULÉ is seen regularly on national PBS affiliates across the country. Their history-making concert, “Brulé: Live at Mount Rushmore -- Concert for Reconciliation of the Cultures”, has become the longest running Native American concert special on national TV.

Throughout the month of November, Smith -- partnered with KATHY BAUDENDISTEL of The Wolf Creek Habitat of Brookville, Indiana -- in a coat drive to help Native Americans in need, keep warm in the coming winter months.  Music from BRULÉ is featured in tonight's program as Native American music and culture are discussed, along with how and where Lakeshore listeners can donated coats.
