MARK FARNER: One of Rock's True Midwest Legends

This program originally aired on WEDNESDAY, JULY 05 @ 7pm CST

MUSICAL GUEST: MARK FARNER (formerly of Grand Funk Railroad)

Tom Lounges was happy to have his old friend MARK FARNER on the program as musical guest to catch up on things, to chat about his upcoming live dates and to play some great Farner tunes from both his solo catalog and Grand Funk-era favorites.

Mark Farner is of course -- the Voice and Guitar behind all of those classic Grand Funk Railroad songs -- and in most cases the songwriter of them as well.

Although Mark is no longer performing under the GFR banner and has forged a successful solo career in recent years, he still performs all the hits and deep cuts that his early fans know and love him for in his live shows, along with some songs from his many solo albums.

MARK FARNER and his NrG Band are performing FRIDAY, JULY 7th at FOELLINGER THEATER in FORT WAYNE, INDIANA in a co-billed concert with BLUE OYSTER CULT.  They will also be performing at the ARCADA THEATER in St. Charles, IL in October.   Keep up with Mark's dates online at: www.markfarner.com.

Plenty of  tunes are played during the course of this interview with one of rock's greatest voices --- some you will find yourself singing along with and some you might be hearing for the first time.

Tom Lounges has been a radio personality and music journalist since 1979. For the last 43 years, Tom has been reporting on entertainment as a weekly music columnist and feature writer for The Times newspaper.
