Repurposing & Restoration - Turning Old Into Art

Originally broadcast on January 16, 2017.

The in-studio guests for this edition of "A Look At The Arts with Tom Lounges" was  Northwest Indiana family -- Roger, Vicki and Jen Kerr -- who have taken their collective hobby of restoring old furniture and re-purposing items into pieces of art, and turned it into a successful family business -- Blue Moon Vintage Market -- located just over the state line in the popular arts community of Three Oaks, Michigan.

Through their imagination, creative methods of restoration, including the  recently popular art of chalk painting, the Kerrs have not only found their creations popular with the local folks, but have also has drawn the attention and favor of  Danielle Colby from the television show, "American Pickers," whose own line of unique goods can now be found and purchased at Blue Moon Vintage Market.  Danielle Colby also joins the program mid-way by phone to talk about her collection, why Blue Moon is the perfect regional location for her to sell some of it, and a possible "meet and greet" event featuring Colby at Blue Moon.

Their journey from hobby to business, the niche they have found, and their connection to Colby will all be discussed on this afternoon's program.
