IN STUDIO GUESTS: LIZ MANDEVILLE
with Special Guests: DARIO LOMBARDO, ROCHELLE COBA & ANDY SUTTON
Chicago Blues Hall of Famer LIZ MANDEVILLE brought along a few musician friends to the Lakeshore Public Radio studio when she guested on the September 6th edition of the weekly “Midwest BEAT with Tom Lounges” program.
Mandeville discussed her musical journey and helped pick songs to spin from her brand new album, “THE STARS MOTEL.” This album is unique among the artist’s catalog because it was years in the making, as it was recorded as various traveling musician friends would drop by Mandeville’s residence during road trips; hence the album’s title. As such, this collection features quite a variety of guest players.
Given that some talented “friends” — Italy’s DARIO LOMBARDO, Miami’s ROCHELLE COBA and NW Indiana’s ANDY SUTTON — joined Mandeville in-studio for this live broadcast, there’s some great live jamming heard on this program.
Mandeville returns as the special guest of Italian bluesman Dario Lombardo for next week’s program on September 13th as “MIDWEST BEAT” spotlights Lombardo’s albums and a few compositions the two have written together.
