For this fourth week of the “MIDWEST BEAT  Black History Month Series” the evolution of black music in America continues…

 

On this program we step into the  1960s and 1970s to focus on some of the legends of theMotown Sound and some of the innovators of the Funk sound that soon followed, as black music finally broke through musical color barrier and crossed over in a way that was profound.

 

In studio guests to chat and perform live is SHERYL YOUNGBLOOD & SAY YES!    Sheryl and her bandmates — Lee, Jose and Antone — join in conversation and laid done the groove while covering artists like The Temptaions, Etta James, and The Commodores .

 

Tom Lounges has been a radio personality and music journalist since 1979. For the last 43 years, Tom has been reporting on entertainment as a weekly music columnist and feature writer for The Times newspaper.
