Remembering The Genius & Creativity of DAVID BOWIE -- His BEAT Interview Clips and Songs

This edition of “MIDWEST BEAT with Tom Lounges” originally aired on January 12, 2016

TOM LOUNGES’ DAVID BOWIE TRIBUTE

TONIGHT’S SHOW FEATURES BOWE’S MUSIC & CLIPS FROM HIS MIDWEST BEAT INTERVIEW with guest commentary from ’70 punk rock pioneer – JIM SKAFISH

This installment of “Midwest BEAT with Tom Lounges” is a tribute to the late, great chameleon of rock ‘n ‘roll — DAVID BOWIE — who had died this week at the age of 69 after an 18-month battle with cancer.

For this show, host Tom Lounges excerpted a past interview he did with David Bowie and included a handful of historical snippets of audio of Bowie’s responses to some specific questions Lounges had about his music, his shows and his career.

“David Bowie was a gifted artist who never settled; he chased his muse until the very end, releasing his last album – “Black Star” — just two days before his death and using the last of his strength to complete the music video to accompany his newest, and sadly last new single, ‘Lazarus’,” said Lounges.  “It was an honor to briefly meet him in the late 1970s, to interview him, and a thrill to see David perform over the years both in concert and on the theatrical stage.”

This program also features a variety of songs from Bowie’s extensive catalog — some hits, some deeper cuts, and his brand new single.   This show also features interview commentary on David Bowie’s impact from ’70s punk rock pioneer and underground music icon, JIM SKAFISH.

Tom Lounges has been a radio personality and music journalist since 1979. For the last 43 years, Tom has been reporting on entertainment as a weekly music columnist and feature writer for The Times newspaper.
