Group of Hall of Fame Singers "SIGNAL" a New Project About The Region's Music Roots

This edition of “MIDWEST BEAT with Tom Lounges” originally aired on TUESDAY, JANUARY 5 @ 7pm CST

 

GUESTS:  The Cast of “THE SIGNAL: A Doo Wop Rhapsody”

featuring WILLIE ROGERS of The Soul StirrersBILLY SHELTON of The Spaniels & HENRY FARAG (of Stormy Weather), with SHERYL YOUNGBLOOD, LINDA WALLA, JOSIE ROGERS, GENE STEWART, WILTON CRUMP, PATRICK PITRE and WILTON CRUMP.

 

This edition of Midwest BEAT with Tom Lounges” salutes the vintage R&B sounds of Northwest Indiana with an in-studio interview and live vocal performances by the cast of “The Signal: A Doo Wop Rhapsody.”   

 

In-studio musical guests are:  HENRY FARAG of Stormy Weather,, creator of “The Signal” and co-founder of Stormy Weather.   Also in studio are Grammy Award-winner and Rock And Roll Hall of Fame inductee WILLIE ROGERS (of The Soul Stirrers), and Vocal Group Hall of Fame inductee BILLY SHELTON (of The Spaniels), SHERYL YOUNGBLOOD, LINDA WALLA, JOSIE ROGERS, GENE STEWART, WILTON CRUMP, PATRICK PITRE and WILTON CRUMP

 

Along with performing a cappela, these artists all share stories and memories about their respective musical careers, the doo wop and the early R&B era, and being a part of  the hit musical – “The Signal: A Doo Wop Rhapsody” – being presented at Theatre at the Center in Munster for three performances:  3 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16 and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17.

Tom Lounges has been a radio personality and music journalist since 1979. For the last 43 years, Tom has been reporting on entertainment as a weekly music columnist and feature writer for The Times newspaper.
