This “Midwest BEAT with Tom Lounges” originally aired on JANUARY 1, 2016

“MIDWEST BEAT with TOM LOUNGES”

Celebrating ELVIS' Legacy with  DJ FONTANA, DAN LENTINO & OMAR FARAG

GUESTS:    DJ FONTANA, DAN LENTINO & OMAR FARAG

This installment of  “Midwest BEAT with Tom Lounges” celebrates the music, memory and impact of ELVIS PRESLEY as the world and the Great Lakes Region gears up for what would have been Presley’s 81st birthday.

Joining life-long Elvis fan and show host TOM LOUNGES are guests Rock And Roll Hall of Famer DJ FONTANA (Elvis’ original drummer), Elvis event promoter OMAR FARAG, and The Fabulous Ambassadors Musical Director DAN LENTINO.

The most enduring rock ‘n’ roll artist of all time and one of the world’s most beloved entertainers – ELVIS PRESLEY – was born on January 8, 1935 in a one room sharecropper’s bungalow in Tupelo, Mississippi.   “Midwest BEAT with Tom Lounges”  dedicates this full show to Presley’s music, his impact and his continued appeal to new generations.

Midwest concert promoter OMAR FARAG was Lounges’ in-studio guest as they called and chatted with Elvis’ original ‘50s and ‘60s drummer and Rock And Roll Hall of Famer — DJ FONTANA — who performed on approximately 460 RCA cuts with Elvis between 1956 to 1968 and appeared on screen in many of Elvis’ films.  Fontana has also performed and/or recorded with a virtual Who’s Who of other artists, including Paul McCartney, Cheap Trick, Ringo Starr, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Jeff Beck.

Also guesting on this program is DAN LENTINO, who has been a part of the Chicago music scene since the early 1970s and who has performed on Broadway and around the world in several countries; and appeared on one of the final episodes of “Late Night” hosted by David Letterman.

Fontana and Lentino with both perform as part of  “The 30th Annual Elvis Birthday Spectacular” tour which includes Chicago area performances in Skokie, IL and Elgin, IL and in Merrillville, IN at Star Plaza Theatre where the first  “Elvis Birthday Spectacular” took place.
