New York City's WILLIE NILE -- A True Rocker YOU Should Know!

This edition of “MIDWEST BEAT with Tom Lounges” originally aired

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 3, 2015

“MIDWEST BEAT with Tom Lounges”

Musical Guest: WILLIE NILE

Musical guest for this edition of “Midwest BEAT with Tom Lounges” was New York rocker WILLIE NILE – who honed his skills in the haunts of Greenwich Village,  rocked clubs like CBGB’s and signed his first international record deal in 1980.

Along the way, Willie Nile established a global fan base including some very famous fellow artists, including Bruce Springsteen who has invited Willie to jam with his E-Street Band many times over the years.   Another famous Willie fan is guitarist Pete Townshend, who personally invited Nile to open for The Who’s 1980 U.S. Tour.

“Midwest BEAT” show host Tom Lounges first met Willie and became a fan back in 1981 at Chicago’s Park West during Willie’s “Golden Down” tour.   In recent years, Nile has built a strong Northwest Indiana fan base with his series of performances for The Imagine Music Group at  the historic Memorial Opera House in Valparaiso, Indiana.  Willie and his band return there for a concert on November 7th.

This program is peppered with a few of Lounges’ personal favorites from Nile’s deep catalog, as well as a song from Nile’s latest CD,  “If I Was A River.”   So call out the fire department — because WILLIE NILE burnt up the airwaves during this guest shot on “Midwest BEAT.”

“Midwest BEAT with Tom Lounges” airs on 89.1FM-LakeShore Public Radio and streams live in real time online stream at: www.lakeshorepublicmedia.org.
