The Ku Klux Klan In The Heartland (Repeat)

Courtesy of James H. Madison

Indiana’s relationship with the Ku Klux Klan is a dark part of our history, but it’s important to acknowledge and understand. In the 1920s Klan-friendly Governor Edward Jackson was elected, and KKK Grand Dragon D.C. Stephenson was a political force.

Today we examine the history of the KKK in Indiana with James H. Madison, author of the new book "The Ku Klux Klan in the Heartland." We learn about the rise and fall of the Klan's influence in Indiana, and how the spread of hate is still felt today.

Originally aired October 13, 2020.
