A St. John police officer faces criminal charges, after he allegedly fired several gunshots at a moving vehicle last November. Officer Philip J. Fabian, 33, will be charged with a Level 6 felony count of criminal recklessness and a Class A misdemeanor count of criminal mischief, according to a St. John Police Department press release.
At the time on the incident, he said he fired several shots at a vehicle that was coming toward him while he was investigating an unoccupied vehicle near the intersection of 93rd and Cline. It later turned out that the driver of the other car was an off-duty Hammond police officer.
Fabian remains on paid administrative leave, until the St. John Board of Safety makes a determination about his employment status.
Fabian joined the St. John Police Department in June of 2022, after serving as an officer in East Chicago.
