The Urban League of Northwest Indiana wants Purdue Northwest Chancellor Thomas Keon off of its board of directors. The organization's CEO and board chair sent a letter to Keon, calling on him to resign following his impersonation of Asian languages during December's commencement ceremony.

They stopped short of asking him to resign from the university, saying they want to work collaboratively with him "to be a part of the solution." The Urban League of Northwest Indiana is also offering to provide diversity, equity and inclusion training for Purdue Northwest senior faculty and staff, it and wants the university to establish a DEI committee.
