The threat of cold weather has Indiana American Water urging customers to protect their homes against freezing pipes. Some tips include wrapping pipes with foam insulation, leaving cabinets open to let warm air circulate to the pipes, and letting a faucet drip to keep water moving.

In a statement, Indiana American Water President Matt Prine notes that ice can cause pipes to burst, potentially causing thousands of dollars in water damage.
