Valparaiso continues to see a surge in customers at its golf courses and ice skating rink. Valpo Parks Executive Director John Seibert says the weather in November has allowed the city to offer golf and ice skating at the same time.
"And on Friday, we had over a thousand customers at the ice skating and a revenue just that day of $14,000," Seibert told the city council Monday.
But the increase in revenue comes with an increase in costs, since more staff is needed to handle the extra customers. Now, Seibert is asking the city council for permission to spend another $40,000 of that park revenue, in case the existing budget runs out.
