Northwest Indiana residents have a chance to learn about a pair of proposed road projects this week.
Tonight, consultants studying the extension of Willowcreek Road will host a public information meeting at the Porter County Expo Center at 5:30 p.m. The project would extend Willowcreek Road south from 700 North all the way to U.S. 30.
Tonight's meeting will begin with a short presentation, followed by an open house, where residents will get to look at project maps and ask questions to the project team.
Then on Wednesday and Thursday, the Indiana Department of Transportation will hold public meetings on its 80/94 FlexRoad project. It could include letting motorists drive on the shoulder during traffic backups, letting only one vehicle enter at a time during peak periods, and changing speed limits and closing individual lanes depending on crashes and road conditions.
INDOT representatives will discuss the project during an in-person meeting Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Purdue Northwest Student Union Library Building in Hammond and a virtual meeting on Thursday at 6:00 p.m.
