Valparaiso will be able to get some extra paving work done. The board of works last week approved a $250,215.80 change order to the city's Community Crossings projects.
"We had a little bit of additional money left over, so we worked with the contractor, Milestone, to identify additional streets that would be suitable for paving this year," explained Max Rehlander, deputy city engineer.
The work will take place on Lafayette Street from Chicago to Bush, Jefferson Street from Morgan to Garfield, and northbound Sturdy Road from U.S. 30 to Warbler.
The Valparaiso Board of Works also hired Site Services to complete the 2022 speed humps and raised crosswalk program for a cost of just over $51,000. Board members also approved another step in the Harrison Boulevard Pathway project, by approving a $15,250 contract for geotechnical engineering for a retaining wall.
