Governor Eric Holcomb says he's keeping an eye on the impact Indiana's near-total abortion ban could have on economic development, even if he isn't particularly worried. While some businesses say they're looking at pulling employees out of Indiana or looking to other places for future growth, Holcomb notes the state is setting new records for capital investment.
"It's not slowing. It's doing the opposite. And so I'll pay attention, and we'll continue to focus on making sure that this is a business-friendly state that so many people, at an unprecedented rate, have agreed with," Holcomb said Tuesday.
The governor says he respects business leaders' personal and professional opinions on abortion, but he believes that from a business perspective, Indiana is the place to grow. "I'd love to see the stories written about why so many people are leaving a number of states that claim to be pro-business," Holcomb added.
The abortion ban he signed into law is temporarily on hold, amid ongoing legal challenges.
