Illinois man dies after being pulled from Lake Michigan

provided by Indiana Department of Natural Resources Division of Law Enforcement

A 72-year-old Illinois man has died after he was pulled from Lake Michigan at Indiana Dunes State Park Sunday.

Indiana Conservation Officers say that around 10:30 a.m., Kirshnaraju Rudraraju of Woodridge went under the water and didn't resurface. After 15 minutes of searching, lifeguards found him 100 feet from shore, submerged in about seven feet of water. He was taken to Northwest Health Porter Hospital, where he died Sunday afternoon.

Officers say autopsy and toxicology results are pending, and the incident remains under investigation.
