Three people were killed and seven more were hurt in a shooting in Gary early Tuesday morning. Gary Police say it appears that a holiday block party was taking place in the 1900 block of Missouri Street, when shooting erupted. Officers say, "Due to the enormity of the scene mutual aid was requested from surrounding police agencies."
The Times reports Laurence Mangum, 25, of Merrillville; Ashanti Brown, 20, of Olympia Fields; and Marquise Hall, 26, of Lafayette were killed. Their deaths have been ruled a homicide by the Lake County Coroner's Office.
