Pierce Middle School evacuated after another bomb threat

Merrillville Community School Corporation

A report of a bomb threat led to the evacuation of Pierce Middle School in Merrillville. In a notice to parents, school administrators say they were alerted of the threat around noon Friday.

Staff and students safely exited, and police were called to check the building. Administrators say that since a full investigation would take time, students were taken to Merrillville High School, to be picked up by their parents.

It's the second time this has happened in less than two months. A similar bomb threat and evacuation took place on March 22.
