Body of missing Indianapolis man recovered from Lake Michigan

South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority

The body of an Indianapolis man who fell into Lake Michigan while walking on shelf ice has been recovered, more than two months after he went missing. Indiana Conservation Officers say the remains of Bryce Dunfee, 22, were located Thursday morning at West Beach in Porter County, about a half-mile from where he went missing on February 21.

He and five friends had been walking on the shelf ice, when it began to crack. Officers said the others tried to help Dunfee but were unable to reach him due to the high waves and unstable ice.
