Many Jasper County residents could get better broadband access, thanks to the third round of Next Level Connections grants from the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs.
Multiple providers were awarded grant funds to expand broadband to thousands of homes and businesses in Jasper County and surrounding areas. That includes almost $12.5 million to Jasper County REMC, almost $1.2 million to Mercury Wireless and more than $612,000 to NITCO.
NITCO and Surf Broadband Solutions also received funding to give broadband access to 100 customers in Newton County, while Comcast got almost $128,000 to expand access in Porter County.
Next Level Connections provides up to five million dollars to expand broadband service to unserved areas.
